Paolo Fazioli

Pianist and engineer, Paolo Fazioli is the founder of piano
manufacturer Fazioli. Born in Rome in 1944, into a family of furniture
makers, he demonstrated from an early age a gift for music and a keen
interest in the piano. Within the period 1969–71, he graduated from
the University of Rome with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and in
piano performance at the G. Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro and attained
a Master’s degree in Music Composition at the Academy of Santa Cecilia.
His unique skills as an engineer and pianist inspired his desire to create a
better piano. Having brought together a team of mathematicians, acoustic
physicists, wood technologists, piano makers and pianists, to ‘defi ne the
process for the construction of a conceptually new piano’, Fazioli realised
his dream in 1981 with the establishment of Fazioli Pianoforti s.r.l.
